About the Artist

Flexibility, playfulness, vibrancy, curiosity, and color all rooted in intuition.

I have made art all my life—always noticing the things that bring my eyes and heart pleasure. I have formal training in painting and sculpture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and am based in central Illinois. I have experience working in foundries, pottery studios, and my own self-studio. Through all these experiences, I have tried to focus on flexibility, playfulness, vibrancy, curiosity, and color in my artwork. It has taken me years to be able to allow looseness and imperfection to show itself in my work, and I have had to be flexible with myself and my process. I strive to embrace play and curiosity when making by outlining wily shapes and textures. I choose to incorporate colors that may appear random, and I listen to my intuition about how they may interact together cohesively in the end. I find that these processes have led me to more longevity in my artmaking, and have also led me to another passion of mine: art therapy. I work as an art therapist to help others also experience the play, flexibility, and curiosity that I have come to know through process art. My training in fine art has greatly informed my practice as a therapist, and I hope that these artworks speak to those who are wanting some of these values and elements for themselves.
