About the Artist
My artworks move and change—just like everything else. As an artist, I try to embrace this reality through my work and focus on what comes up for me naturally while painting, drawing, and collaging.
I grew up and still live in the Midwest (Peoria, Illinois). Here, we experience all the seasons, however brief they may be. It’s something that I have learned to appreciate—all the changes that come with my home. When I create, I try to encompass some of this through the different colors, lines, and shapes that are present. I also try to not grasp too tightly to one particular theme, but instead, I want to allow my art the flexibility it requires and deserves. I hope this work induces a level of flexibility, and perhaps play. I hope it reminds people to not be too serious or too fixated on the rigidity of perfection.
I have made art all my life—always noticing the things that bring my eyes and heart pleasure. I have formal training from my undergraduate degree in painting and sculpture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I have experience working in foundries, pottery studios, and my own self-studio. I also work as an art-therapist, encouraging others to engage in healing and exploration/play through the creative process.
